2017 Season was a thrilling season where Alliance men's club lost only one game, a rotation of players throughout the season ensured a good and deeper pool of players for the 2018 season. The season included 2 bus trips to Abilene and Shreveport respectively, a ladies day at a home game where players presented roses to their loved ones, many fun after game functions at our sponsor, OC Burgers, restaurant and a memorable win against the division champions at their home in Shreveport.
Finally the season was brought to a close with our club Awards Banquet. Held at The Keller Point, a fitness and activity center, situated off Ruff Snow Drive, this event was top class. The spacious facility was well appointed and beautiful center pieces were provided by Mrs. Sonia Marie Rodrigues DuLong while the talented Ms. Cassidy Koger was the photographer for the evening.
The evening kicked off with a welcome from our president Brad DuLong who has tirelessly moved the club along over the past few years while his family and wife gave him the time to devote to rugby. Today Brad thanked Sonia by giving her a lovely Silver plated rose.
Our seasons captains, Justin "J-Mitch" Mitchell - Club Captain and William "Wil" Lyon - Club Vice Captain, honored their team mates, the coaching staff and club executives during their humorous review of the season. Hairless J-Mitch donned a long haired 60's wig as people relived a fun season.
Karbun Tang, Assistant coach said a few words about the development of the club culture and the respect that individuals have developed for one another both critical components to the clubs success and foundation to the future of the club. Karbun toasted Stuart Rogers-Brown, Head Coach for his contribution to the club in these areas amongst others.
Our guest speaker for the evening was the British and Irish Lion and Wales front ranker, Daren Morris.
Darren was his larger than life self as he regaled stories from his past. Alliance Rugby Club and Darren have committed to holding coaching clinics in the future as we strive to improve the level of rugby in the DFW region. Further information on these exciting clinics will follow so stay tuned to AllianceRugbyClub.com.
